After nearly 30 years of giving back, Sterling Hospitality officially established Sterling Futures Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to expand and elevate the company’s longstanding commitment to community impact. What began as neighborhood fundraisers and grassroots partnerships has evolved into a dedicated foundation dedicated to deepening our reach and serving with even greater purpose.

Led by Sterling Hospitality CEO, Co-Founder and Marlow’s Tavern Executive Chef John C. Metz, alongside Co-Founder Tom DiGiorgio, the foundation formalizes decades of charitable work rooted in hospitality. Since 1999, the organization’s Annual Golf Classic has raised more than $1.9 million for Special Olympics Georgia, supporting thousands of athletes and their families across the state. The tournament remains a cornerstone of our fundraising efforts and a powerful example of what happens when community, competition, and generosity come together.

Beyond Special Olympics Georgia, Sterling Futures Foundation continues our tradition of hyperlocal giving through Marlow’s Tavern spirit nights, partnerships with PTAs, school athletic programs and clubs, Habitat for Humanity builds, local 5K races, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta families, and other neighborhood-specific needs. We are proud to be the neighborhood corner bar where communities gather—not just to dine, but to support one another.

The foundation also extends support within the hospitality industry, including organizations such as Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaigns in Georgia and Florida and Atlanta’s Giving Kitchen, which provides emergency financial assistance to hospitality workers. Inspired by family legacy and a lifelong passion for the industry, Chef Metz is also committed to creating opportunities for the next generation of culinary professionals, helping young chefs discover their path and pursue their passion.

Rooted in hospitality and driven by heart, Sterling Futures Foundation exists to serve beyond the table—strengthening our neighborhoods, supporting our industry, and creating meaningful opportunities for years to come.
